This is the recipe collection of my food blog that I kept as journal for more than 5 years. It captured my journey and adventures into the realm of food, cooking and nutrition.
In 2008, at the age of 33, I felt that my diet needed a haulover. I started looking for sugar alternatives, switched from refined grains to whole grains, refined flours to wholemeal flours. I started experimenting with spices. As a result, I started enjoying cooking from scratch. I got interested in ingredients and their nutritional values. Anything from the regular vegetable to the exotic spice I would examine.
My blog served as personal food journal and cookbook. I am an omnivore, but also ventured into exploring vegetarian, vegan and raw dishes as I find them incredibly inventive and tasty. Over the years, my diet has become 100% free of refined sugars and refined flours. Many of my recent recipes are grain free, as I feel that my overall well-being has improved without grains.
Now, in 2016, I feel I have arrived in a happy place nutrition-wise. I don’t follow a restricted diet. The only foods I have cut out permanently are grains and processed sugar. I do eat meat and dairy, I am a big fan of raw and and vegan foods. I like simple foods that are quick and easy to prepare. I eat to live, not live to eat.
I will abandon the blog style of my food blog, but will keep the recipes that I have tried and tested over more than 5 years. Perhaps add a recipe now and then, but not on a regular basis.
Have a look around. I hope to pass on some passion on healthy eating with this recipe collection. Bon appetit!
